President Trump, true to his words, just sent some US troops down to the southern border to help deal with the mess the caravan is causing.
The caravan is still far off, deep in southern Mexico but it is not being stopped and will eventually make its way to the border.
Our immigration system is a mess and will be flooded with asylum claims and others trying to cross.
Look, it is a sad situation – they can make more here in a few years here than they can make in 10-15 years or more in poverty stricken Central America. From Fox News:
If they save the money and avoid ICE they can go back to their countries with enough to live so the risk is worth it for their options at home are nil.
Hundreds of U.S. troops are set to make their way to the southern border to help Homeland Security and the National Guard as a caravan with thousands of migrants moves north, a U.S. official confirmed to Fox News on Thursday.
The official said roughly 800 soldiers will be sent to the area to offer “logistical support,” including providing tents and vehicles.
It’s not immediately clear which units are being tasked with the mission as details are still being finalized.
Defense Secretary James Mattis could sign the deployment orders as soon as today.
There are currently 2,100 National Guard troops on the southern border right now assisting Homeland Security.
President Trump tweeted Thursday morning that “I am bringing out the military for this National Emergency. They will be stopped!”
Brandon Judd of the National Border Patrol Council is right when he says on @foxandfriends that the Democrat inspired laws make it tough for us to stop people at the Border. MUST BE CHANDED, but I am bringing out the military for this National Emergency. They will be stopped!

From the Telegraph: Mr. Trump on Wednesday evening told a rally in Wisconsin that the military was “all set.”
Mr. Mattis is now believed to be finalizing details of where the troops will come from, where they will be deployed, and what their role will be.
The troops will not engage in lethal operations to stop the migrants, CNN reported.
