Yesterday Paul Ryan took a few swipes at Trump and to the horror of all compared him to lawless Obama: House Speaker Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) on Tuesday blasted President Trump’s stated push to eliminate birthright citizenship via executive order.
“Well, you obviously cannot do that. You cannot end birthright citizenship with an executive order,” Ryan told Lexington, Ky., radio station WVLK. “We didn’t like it when Obama tried changing immigration laws via executive action, and obviously as conservatives, we believe in the Constitution.” (See Video Below)
Ryan’s comments come in the wake of a new interview with Axios in which Trump said he plans to draft an executive order that would terminate birthright citizenship for children of non-citizens who are born in the United States.
Enter President Trump who you just knew would not let that slide. Trump is a fighter and we forget he took on both parties to win, and he may have to do it again if he wants to keep winning.
“Paul Ryan should be focusing on holding the Majority rather than giving his opinions on Birthright Citizenship, something he knows nothing about! Our new Republican Majority will work on this, Closing the Immigration Loopholes and Securing our Border!” Trump tweeted out before adding a devastating video.
Look, both parties have been in favor of stricter immigration rules but they simply play politics with the issue so nothing ever happens. Ryan did soften his stance a bit according to CNN: During the interview on Tuesday, Ryan quickly sought to emphasize common ground with the President on immigration policy, despite saying that it was not possible to end birthright citizenship via executive order.
